This is a solid morning choice! We came in and there were a couple large groups, but we were seated fast and had our orders in pretty quick. The service here is fantastic. They treat everyone like family!

The food is simple, but tasty. We tried a couple different styles of tacos. Everything tasted fresh. The owner told us he's be making his special salsa soon, but he didn't have any the day we were there, so we got the normal stuff. The beans and rice were pretty basic, just the thing for a Tacoma lunch!

      Great service, good food.

This place is a gem and I don't know how it wasn't packed 24/7. Not only does it serve a fusion of three of the best cuisines: Filipino, Latin, and Hawaiian, but they also have some of the best customer service I've experienced. You can tell that the team working there truly cares about making it something special.

When it comes to the food... Best Pork Belly taco I've ever had. Periodt! It's crunchy, juicy, sweet, salty, with a little kick. I would absolutely choose this as my last meal. This is a must when you go. The chicken enchiladas were good as well. The Loco Duck is their signature Ube Horchata with rum and I would have drank like 10 if I didn't have to drive! They also have a regular Ube Horchata, which I did have a few of. Highly recommend that as well!

All in all, Ruca is a must stop when you're in Tacoma. I haven't had good comfort food like this in a long long time!

Amazing food, excellent flavors in every bite. We tried all four tacos flavors my favorite was the Kalua pork, my husband's fav was the carnitas. He also had a bomb "broke da mouth" burrito.
Service was great and Willie the owner came out and talked with us, such a nice man with a creative menu.
      Very clean nicely done atmosphere.

Been here for lunch while visiting Tacoma last weekend. Reviews looked great and a it away from the craziness of downtown - were the main reasons for picking up this spot.

Looks like they were about to wrap up their lunch hours when we walked in. Picked up the menu and sat down. Ambiance is quite casual. The service was a little slow. Just couple of guys working. They served us the tortilla chips and salsa first. We opted for Quesadilla - cheese, Burrito especial, Burrito vegetariano and jarritos to start with.

The wait was quite long - almost 20 mins for the food to arrive. The salsa they served as a real deal! Loved the flavor & spice level. The tortilla chips was air fried it seems, no oil at all. They offer unlimited refill for the chips & salsa.

The burritos were unreal to be fair. their sauces are damn good and that made the burritos very delicious. Portion is quite big - makes it worth for the price tag. No complaints about the quesadilla - made of jack cheese served with olives, guacamole, jalapenos, sour cream and tomato - perfect combo!

We tried the Lidia's flan and Newyork Cheesecake from their dessert options. Loved the flan more than cheesecake, but super sweet and delicious.

It's not a typical Mexican place - more of a fusion of Latin - Asian fusion. Was surprised to find tofu in my vegetariano and realized it's a fusion place. Loved the food. If any complaints, it's about the slow service. Otherwise it's a top place.

"Best burrito of my life" - that's the sign welcomes you when you are about to enter this place. And I must say, the hype is real!

Solid choice for delicious comfort foods. We seemed to be in a Filipino food mood the morning we went. Looking forward to trying the Mexican and Hawaiian dishes next time :)

My first meal at Ruca was outstanding! I had the ube horchata which was delicious; great combo of flavors. I then ordered a grilled burrito with carne asada which was a great size. I did not finish it all but was happy to have leftovers. Definitely would go back for another burrito but really want to go back to further explore the menu.

I have been really wanting to go to Ruca for ever since they opened. They aren't the broadest when it comes to operating business hours but do indeed go when they are open because it is absolutely worth it.
Ruca is fusion oriented, fusing Latin and Filipino cuisines together. I do have to say when I first tried fusion food in the 90's it didn't sit well with me but that was decades ago and fusion cuisine has come a very long ways since then. Heck, in the 1990's they didn't even call this kind of food fusion. Yes, there are still a few restaurants out there that do not do fusion all that great but the majority of them do. Just pay attention to restaurant reviews for sure.
Ruca is definitely one of the good ones. Absolutely no doubt about it! I got a special of theirs of tamales with molé sauce in top along with rice and beans. Now, I really needed to pay attention when I typed "molé " for when I praised this dish on Instagram I accidentally said "mold" sauce. Well, there's nothing moldy about it. Lol!
The tamales were wonderful! They were pork I believe for the filling and the molé sauce was mastered so very well. I have had molé sauce in which it tasted like a chocolate candy bar. Too sweet to be sure but Ruca's molé sauce is so very well mastered. Bravo!
We had chips and salsa too which were yummy as well!
We were too full to have dessert. Steve had some shrimp tacos that were out of this world too. I'm not sure if you can go wrong with anything you pick on the menu.
The particular day we went service was a little slow but the staff were totally on top on acknowledging this and gave us complimentary sodas which was awesome! Somebody came in before us and placed a very large "to go" order hence the delay. Most appreciated for being so in tune to the mechanics and wait times at your restaurant. More often than not this just gets ignored by the staff and they hope (or maybe they don't) at other restaurants and probably have a sincere hope of not getting flack from diners about what is going on with their meal.
Ruca is perfect in so many ways and is well worth seeking out here in Tacoma!

Best Mexican food in tacoma! the sauces are top notch. family vibe, the owner Willie is the nicest dude around, always smiling and going above and beyond to make your experience amazing!

enchiladas are unreal, the taco platter was insane and since a steal of a deal, the Flan is hands down the best i've ever had.

it's between Top of Tacoma and Dusty's Hideaway so not the best neighborhood, but worth the trip!

Been there twice, first time was great but the 2nd time was an hour wait with only one other table in the restaurant. When asking for an update, we were told to tell them we're on our lunch break to speed things up. Lumpia was cold in the middle. They're out of horchata both times I went.
